Swim with the dolphins in Awaji-shima

Dolphin Swim in Awaji-shima 淡路島

Janohire Dolphin farm

Do you want to play with the dolphins and/or get to know them better?  This is a good place to do so!

There are several choices.  If you do not want to get into the sea and get wet, then you can opt for the dolphin greeting course (Y5000, 30 minutes).   You can shake hands with the dolphins and learn about them, up close.

The swim course (Y8000, 40 minutes in the warmer months.  Y5000, 30 minutes, shorter for the colder months) will involve a short lecture on the dophins, learning to get to know them, and finally, to do a quick swim with them in the sea.  It is a very good program and the kids can enjoy it as well.  (Caution: we went in March and although we had our dry suits on, it was quite chilling.)  They provide the necessary dry suits, aqua shoes, warm shower and so on.  Just bring your swimming suit and towels.

After this, you would want to go to a nice cafe for some delicous sweets and coffee/tea!

Fukucafe

The owners had transformed this old Japanese house, more than 100 years old and made it into a relaxing cafe.  The coffee is freshly brewed, the ingredients are organic and locally produced.  Their waffles are really delicious!   This place is a bit difficult to find, but definitely worth the trip.
