GRANDECO SNOW RESORT has it all. 1 hour and 15 minutes on the bullet train from Tokyo to Koriyama (North of Japan, in Fukushima Prefecture), then a bus ride 1 hour and 30 minutes direct to the resort.

Hotel is very good and the two restaurants serve high quality food with enough choices for a week. Excellent hot springs/bath. Indoor swimming pool. Lots of massage options. Skii slopes directly from the hotel doors. Extensive rental service. Good choice of schools and prive lessons. And yes, there is a kid`s play area/slide slope!

Worried about Fukushima, due to the Great Earthquake of 2011? Don`t worry. This area is in the very West of Fukushima, far and away from the nuclear reactors. 100 kilometers away from the reactor area.

The slopes are for beginners and intermediates mostly, so if you are an expert, you will be bored. Better go all the way to Hokkaido and/or Shiga Kogen in Nagano. Both famous for their slopes and powder snow.
