Tabelog.com Short cut to finding the right restaurant in Japan!

There are MANY restaurants in Tokyo and other parts of Japan.  How should you find the one that matches your criteria such as location, budget, dietary restrictions and so on?

 

Try using Tabelog (yes, their English site is not perfect, but it will do.)  In Tokyo area, it has over 130,000 restaurant listings with 7.9 million reviews in total!  Although the reviews are in Japanese, the points (5 is best) are displayed.  As a rule of thumb, anything above 3.5 is usually top notch.  So, you are most likely to be satified with the restaurant.  (make sure you choose overall ranking in `sort by standard.  That is the pure ranking, not influeced by ad money,  for example.Pure reflection of the consumers opinion aggregated.)

You can sort the restaurants by location, type of food, price range, dinner, lunch and so on.  All the necessary information is listed on the page.  So, try it!  It is very convenient.

It is operated by Kakaku.com (price comparison site, where EVERYTHING (well, almost) is covered.)  Although it is only in Japanese, you can try and compare the prices of your desired products, like camera, PC, car, shoes, cosmetics, watches, game, etc. on this site.  It covers traditional retail stores as well as the ecommerce.
